CTIA Photo Contest

4:10 PM -- I'll be burning up whatever the vegetarian equivalent of shoe leather is over the next few days at the Fall CTIA show in San Francisco. Naturally, I'll be taking some pictures -- and we have a real photographer, too.

This time, however, we also want you to get involved. To that end, I've set up a kyte.tv channel for CTIA shots. We used kyte for our 3G Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone slideshow and it worked like a charm, so we thought we'd give you all a shot. The kyte application can handle cameraphone snaps or shots from digital cameras. Just send pictures in phone messages or via email to [email protected] and the program will do the rest, generally publishing them within minutes.

We're looking for colorful shots of the convention itself and the surrounding area. No photographs of bored conventioneers on escalators, but, hopefully, handsets, WiMax, femtocells, industry faces, and parties.

After CTIA is all over we'll pick the best one and send the happy snapper a stylin' Unstrung T-shirt and a $25 Starbucks coffee voucher. So get snapping...

Dan is to hats what Will.I.Am is to ridiculous eyewear. Fedora, trilby, tam-o-shanter -- all have graced the Jones pate during his career as the go-to purveyor of mobile essentials.

But hey, Dan is so much more than 4G maps and state-of-the-art headgear. Before joining the Light Reading team in 2002 he was an award-winning cult hit on Broadway (with four 'Toni' awards, two 'Emma' gongs and a 'Brian' to his name) with his one-man show, "Dan Sings the Show Tunes."

His perfectly crafted blogs, falling under the "Jonestown" banner, have been compared to the works of Chekhov. But only by Dan.

He lives in Brooklyn with cats.
