3:30 PM -- Ex-Nortel executive Glenn Laxdal joined Airvana Inc. today as VP of femtocell product management. He'll be responsible for the vendor's CDMA and UMTS femtocell product strategy.

At Nortel Networks Ltd. , Laxdal was VP of global product management for the CDMA and Long-Term Evolution (LTE) carrier business. (See Poll: Huawei Likely Nortel Wireless Biz Buyer.)

But even at Airvana, he won't be entirely immune from Nortel's bankruptcy protection proceedings. Nortel uses CDMA EV-DO equipment from Airvana and owes the femto maker money -- $22 million to be exact. (See Airvana's Nortel Exposure and Airvana, Nortel Partner.)
