Infonetics and Dell'Oro Group have named Siemens market leader for DSL customer premises equipment
June 14, 2004
MUNICH -- Siemens has not only been able to maintain but also to expand its leadership position for DSL devices. This is shown in studies by two well-known market research institutes for the first quarter of this year: Both Infonetics Research and The Dell´Oro Group reach the conclusion that Siemens Information and Communication Networks (ICN) is the number one worldwide in DSL CPEs (customer premises equipment). CPEs include modems, routers, and integrated access devices, so-called IADs, for fast, broadband internet access.
For the time period mentioned, The Dell´Oro Group determined a worldwide market share of 17.9 percent for the Siemens product families. This is an increase of 4 percent over the previous quarter. In North America the share is 44.8 percent. According to Infonetics Research by 2007 the growth in DSL devices is expected to be 57 percent, but with a continuing decrease in prices. The growth derives not just from delivery of new units, but also from upgrades to devices with more functions and higher transmission rates.
