SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Net6, Inc., a provider of network gateways, today announced the availability of the latest release of its Hybrid-VPN Gateway, a secure remote access product that combines the strengths of IPSec and SSL VPN technologies while eliminating their respective shortcomings at a fraction of the cost. Two major new enhancements in Hybrid-VPN 4.0 include: "Remote Control," which enables IT administrators to take control of remote PCs without having to use third-party applications; and "Endpoint Assurance," an integrated, built-in endpoint security feature for continuous, real-time monitoring of endpoint processes and applications.

Debates continue to rage on between which VPN technology is superior, IPSec or SSL. Net6 solved the inherent issues of both these technologies with the first release of its Hybrid-VPN earlier this year, and with the latest release, delivers enhanced capabilities not available with legacy IPSec or SSL VPN systems. Enhanced features, including Remote Control and Endpoint Assurance, assist security administrators with improving security, simplifying administration, and reducing support costs, in addition to enabling employees to spend less time setting up secure remote access and more time using their applications.

"Before implementing the Hybrid-VPN, if we had a remote user with a problem, we would first set up a meeting using a popular web conferencing service and send the details to the user. Once the remote user logged into the web conferencing session, the user would share his or her desktop and we would take control and fix it," said Curt Jernigan, IT Director at Rainfinity. "With the Hybrid VPN, the remote user just right-clicks on the VPN icon, shares his desktop, and we have control-instantly. The Hybrid-VPN gives us remote control functionality that is simpler to use and included with the system, which enables us to reduce the time and expense involved in using a web conferencing application."
