AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) told Light Reading Tuesday evening that it has announced 5G in Dallas -- via Twitter:

In addition, the operator says it has revealed its Waco, Texas plans via this press release, released on October 26. (See AT&T Reveals First Commercial 5G Device and When Will AT&T First Launch 5G?)

AT&T intends to sell the Netgear Nighthawk 5G hotspot as its first 5G device, but this is not yet available commercially.

Re: Initial 5G network in Dallas
AT&T is planning to offer its seminal wireless service alongside mobile "pucks" will be able to relay the improved signal to other clients. A dozen of the aforementioned cities should have access to the new network before the end of the year, though AT&T is unlikely to be able to provide reliable coverage throughout their metropolitan areas and will instead presumably focus on downtown locations. The Dallas, Texas-based wireless carrier already has 5G cites in its hometown and Waco, though none of them are presently usable by consumers.

Initial 5G network in Dallas

AT&T's initial 5G network in Dallas is around the Klyde Warren Park area, a company spokesman said separately in an emailed statement to the Dallas Business Journal. It's a popular spot near the Dallas Arts District and downtown that features open spaces, a garden and spaces for food trucks.

Still, don't expect to see a lot of folks accessing the new network speeds at the park. This kind of technology needs new devices, and AT&T has said they're coming this year.

I work for AT&T.We'll also outfit our Foundry innovation centers in Atlanta and Palo Alto with 5G. At these locations, we'll focus on IoT and smart cities concepts and test consumer-focused applications like VR gaming and volumetric video. In fact, we recently launched a project to accelerate higher quality streaming and capture of volumetric video over a 5G connection. We previewed a concept of what this might look like at our SHAPE Conference earlier this year. Because volumetric video requires a significant amount of data to capture and stream 3D forms, the AT&T Foundry will be improving and testing this concept in an edge compute environment.

What a pity that the site is in Texas, and not in Vegas where I live. Cool technology, I would apply to cheap las vegas entertainment . Thanks for information.
