Veraz Networks announced the availability of flexible deployment options for nationwide Local Number Portability
August 7, 2006
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Veraz Networks, Inc. today announced the availability of flexible deployment options for nationwide Local Number Portability (LNP). Service providers can now utilize an existing or newly deployed ControlSwitch(TM) softswitch to provide LNP for large national networks. Number portability is often required by national regulators to encourage competition, enabling end users to keep their phone number when switching service providers.
Service providers that have already deployed a service-control-point (SCP)-based LNP solution can use the ControlSwitch to provide the LNP query from the existing SCPs. Additionally, through cooperation with 3rd party partners, Veraz offers solutions that migrate number portability from legacy Intelligent Network (IN) systems to a more flexible SIP-based solution.
Deploying a pure SIP-based next generation network solution enables service providers to easily implement LNP as part of a service infrastructure upgrade. Alternatively, an operator with a ControlSwitch can implement their national LNP database as one of the modules of the ControlSwitch.
"The ControlSwitch makes it easy for service providers to comply with national regulations that require number portability," said Doug Sabella, CEO from Veraz Networks. "Service providers can now provide LNP to existing and new VoIP subscribers as service providers cost-effectively transition their legacy systems."
