May 2, 2006
LAS VEGAS -- Industry pioneer Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:NWK) announced today the general availability of its VX Series Universal Voice Exchange, a next-generation solution for delivering integrated, secure lower cost VoIP and mobility to the enterprise.
Based on NET's award-winning SHOUT voice technology, the VX Series offers enterprises a comprehensive VoIP solution with "any-to-any" gateway functionality and interoperability with existing telecommunications and data network infrastructure. The VX Series also enables VoIP and enterprise mobility applications with session border control and call system integration that extends enterprise PBX functionality to mobile handsets.
With this release, NET has also delivered the VX Security Accelerator Module (SAM), the industry's first wire-speed, full-capacity SRTP solution, available as an optional hardware accelerated-security module for the VX Series product line. Interoperability tests with the latest SRTP RFC 3711 standards have been successfully completed.
When implemented as a remote office voice switch, the VX Series extends advanced calling features from centralized call systems to remote locations, reducing the cost, complexity and manageability of enterprise voice networks. With its remote survivability features, the VX provides continuous, local call service and intelligent trunk routing in the event of network connectivity failures.
Specific features of the VX 900 & VX 2500 Universal Voice Exchange(TM) include:
integrated, multi-function voice switch
intelligent session border controller
vendor-independent remote survivability
extensive call system interoperability
true telecom traffic management
advanced call security
"The VX Series was designed for deployment in large, distributed networks to reduce and consolidate PBX infrastructure and as a result, deliver a much larger ROI than typical VoIP implementations available on the market today," said Talbot Harty, VP of Marketing and General Manager of NET's VX Product Delivery Group. "The integrated functionality and modular software expansion of the VX Series Universal Voice Exchange support cost-effective enterprise network evolution, enabling the addition of new services and applications without requiring wholesale call system replacement or overly complex network design."
