KVH Industries introduces Dr. Kalyan Ganesan as its new VP of engineering

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. -- KVH Industries (Nasdaq: KVHI) announced today that it has hired Dr. Kalyan Ganesan as the company's new Vice President, Engineering. "Kal Ganesan is a leader in the development of next-generation networking and communications solutions," said Martin Kits van Heyningen, KVH president and chief executive officer. "With a proven record of success at such firms as Hughes Network Systems, U.S. West, and GTE, he brings invaluable expertise in broadband technologies, wireless communications, voice and data networks, and telecom infrastructure. His contributions will be critical as we pursue both our mobile broadband and photonic fiber initiatives." Dr. Ganesan comes to KVH from CoWave Networks, a Silicon Valley-based company that, under his direction, developed a new broadband wireless technology using repeater-based mesh topology. Previously, he spent 10 years in engineering and technical management at Hughes Network Systems where he oversaw engineering and product research and development within the Broadband Carrier Networks Division. He also served for 5 years as U.S. West's Technical Director for Advanced Technologies, overseeing the research and development that led to the deployment of advanced voice, fax, and video services using the U.S. telecommunications infrastructure.
