ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Kodeos Communications Inc., a leading provider of 10-Gbits/sec next-generation optical transponders and subsystems, announced today the acquisition of Intersymbol Communications Inc., a leading developer of advanced electronic dispersion compensation (EDC) solutions.

With this acquisition, Kodeos broadens its Marathon and Constellation product portfolios to include new products that will feature the Intersymbol SmartCDR EDC product line. The Intersymbol SmartCDR, based on Maximum Likelihood Sequence Estimation (MLSE), is considerably more powerful than traditional DFE/FFE approaches.

The current Kodeos Marathon product line boasts a variety of 10-Gbit/sec transponders with long-distance capability and high dispersion tolerance (± 3200 ps/nm) while conforming to the standard 300-pin multi-source agreement (MSA), the Optical Duobinary MSA, International Telecommunications Union (ITU), and Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF).

“As Kodeos is the leading optical duobinary supplier in the world and has leading-edge transmit side processing capabilities, the acquisition of Intersymbol is synergistic,” says John Wyatt, Chief Executive Officer, Kodeos Communications. “It provides key receive side technology that will allow the combined companies to have leading-edge expertise in both transmit and receive side processing.
