ATLANTA and TOKYO -- Internap Network Services (Nasdaq: INAP), the leading provider of performance-based routing services over the Internet, and NTT-ME announced today that Internap Japan Co. Ltd., the joint venture between Internap and Japan's NTT Group, has named 20-year NTT veteran, Mitsuo Yoshida, as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Yoshida recently completed a five-year assignment in Singapore as Director of Group strategy for NTT Communications Corporation, where he was integral in formulating the company's international business strategy. In this role, he served as NTT's chief representative at StarHub Pte Ltd., a joint venture established by the NTT Group, Singapore Technologies Group and British Telecom, together with other Singapore-based businesses.

Since joining NTT in 1979, Yoshida has progressed through a series of roles of increasing responsibility, including leadership positions in ISDN product development and international business development in Europe and Asia.

"NTT has confirmed its commitment to Internap and to our joint venture in selecting Mitsuo Yoshida for this important assignment," said Greg Peters, President and Chief Executive Officer of Internap, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. "Yoshida has a proven track record in the development of communications services businesses, and strong international credentials. Today's announcement will further our success at Internap Japan, and the already strong relationship we have with the NTT Group."

In only two years, the number of high-speed Internet connections in Japan has grown some tenfold, to more than 10 million, according to industry sources. More than a quarter of all homes with Internet connections in Japan now use broadband, placing the country in the number three spot in global broadband penetration, behind Canada and South Korea and ahead of the U.S.

"The demand for highly available, highly redundant network services is experiencing significant growth in most major markets in Asia, as well as in Japan," said Yoshida, in accepting the position. "I am pleased to be joining such an exciting organization of talented professionals and look forward to expanding sales in Japan, and establishing alternate channels to further exploit the Internap value proposition to businesses located here."
