SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- IDT™ (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; Nasdaq: IDTI), a leading communications IC company and the leading provider of network search engines (NSEs), today announced an extension to its current relationship with Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC™) (Nasdaq: AMCC) to deliver a complete development solution that reduces design time and lowers system costs for designers of a broad range of communications equipment, including multi-service edge routers, metro Ethernet and broadband aggregation platforms.

Specifically, the solution is comprised of the AMCC nP3700 and nP3710 integrated network processor/traffic manager devices that seamlessly interface to the family of IDT NSEs with fully integrated Network Processor Forum (NPF) Look Aside (LA-1) interfaces. As part of the offering, AMCC is including a daughter card featuring the IDT 75K72234 NSE with dual LA-1 interfaces in the AMCC nPWorkbench 3700 hardware systems shipped to customers, as well as the IDT driver software and system-level architecture model™ (SLAM™) that is integrated with the AMCC nP3700 nPWorkshop software suite. The dual LA-1 interfaces on the IDT NSE allow the sharing of databases between NPUs, thus enabling multiple database support for multi-field complex classification. The IDT/AMCC joint solution is currently shipping to tier-1 customers and will be displayed at IDT booth #411 at the Network Systems Design Conference, October 19-21 in San Jose, Calif.

Today’s announcement extends a long-standing and successful relationship between IDT and AMCC. Previously, AMCC had integrated IDT NSEs and software development kits into its eXternal search co-processor (XSC)-based nP3400, nP3450, nP3454 and nP7250 development environments.

“IDT offers a broad portfolio of NSE solutions optimized to enhance the search performance of solutions based on our NPUs, and extending the successful relationship we have built was a logical choice,” said Amit Banerjee, director of strategic marketing for AMCC’s Communications Group. “Partnering with reliable and proven suppliers like IDT demonstrates our commitment to providing comprehensive solutions for customers developing high-value solutions in a range of communications applications.”

“A host of recent partnership disclosures, including today’s announcement with AMCC, have solidified IDT as the NSE vendor of choice for companies looking to develop integrated solutions that accelerate packet processing,” said Dave Cech, director of marketing for the IDT IP co-processor division. “By teaming with AMCC, we are providing customers complete, easy-to-use solutions with integrated hardware and software development kits and reference designs, thereby reducing their time to market, increasing performance and lowering overall system cost.”

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- IDTTM (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; Nasdaq: IDTI), a leading communications IC company, today announced that it has expanded its portfolio of packet-exchange flow-control management (FCM) products to include a new multi-function suite of system packet interface (SPI) devices.

The packet-exchange family includes three products that solve myriad interconnect problems in core/metro/edge-based networking markets. It comprises integrated solutions supporting 10 Gbps packet processing and offers a wide range of options for logical port density and buffering capabilities, ranging from low-latency SPI-4-to-SPI-4 switching through complex flow-control designs requiring SPI-4 data overbooking and aggregation.

Incorporating three SPI-4 ports, the packet-exchange products facilitate the use of the point-to-point SPI-4 interface standard as a highly flexible multi-point connection scheme. The devices can seamlessly connect multiple SPI-4 network hardware elements, such as network processor units (NPUs), co-processors, traffic managers, multi-gigabit framers and physical interfaces (PHYs), and switch-fabric interface devices. In fact, the SPI-4 packet-exchange devices represent the first family of SPI-4 devices implementing this architectural flexibility and the first series of devices allowing 16 or more logical ports of two SPI-4 interfaces to be combined in a third SPI-4.

“Following the recent introduction of our SPI-3-to-SPI-4 packet-exchange products, the new SPI-4 devices underscore our commitment to offering customers more efficient and highly integrated system-on-chip solutions for managing flow-control and solving interconnect problems in high-speed networking applications,” said Jeremy Bicknell, product manager for the flow-control management division at IDT. “With the breadth of solutions now available in our portfolio, we are well positioned to give network equipment designers the highly integrated products they’ll need that leverage high-speed interface standards, such as SPI-4, to accelerate packet processing.”
