OTTAWA -- Galazar Networks(TM) Inc., a leading fabless semiconductor company with an advanced, next- generation SONET/SDH framer technology, today introduced two new framers to its product family. The DSF250(TM)Data Service Framer is a single-chip 2.5 Gbps framer for Packet and Ethernet over SONET/SDH. The MSF15(TM) Multi-Service Framer is a highly integrated framer capable of mapping both legacy leased lines and Ethernet traffic into OC-3/STM-1 SONET/SDH.

The DSF250 and MSF15 lever Galazar’s industry-leading MSF250 architecture. Launched in September 2002, the MSF250 is the first next-generation framer to offer complete SONET/SDH device integration of legacy telecom and datacom services. Galazar is the first in the world to offer framers simultaneously supporting both high order and low order Virtual Concatenation (VC).

“The DSF250 and MSF15 are important additions to our portfolio, and we have gained multiple tier-one design wins with leading network equipment vendors,” said Richard Deboer, CEO, Galazar Networks. “We now have a growing range of solutions to offer, whether for integrating datacom and traditional telecom services with the MSF15 and MSF250, or mapping Ethernet and data services with the DSF250.”

As with the MSF250, Galazar’s DSF250 and MSF15 framers are targeted at network equipment OEMs, who enable carriers to extend their existing SONET/SDH investments by providing packet and Ethernet next-generation services on an existing SONET/SDH network infrastructure. Galazar’s framers are used in equipment for next-generation SONET/SDH access and aggregation.

The DSF250 is a single-chip data service framer for Ethernet and packet mapping into protected SONET/SDH Lines. The DSF250 is equipped with 10/100 Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet and SPI-3 client interfaces, and maps packets and frames into SONET/SDH Lines that range from OC-3/STM-1 to OC-48/STM-16. The full-rate SPI-3 port enables network processor and other value-added data path processing engines to be directly connected to the DSF250. Target applications include Ethernet aggregation and transport equipment.

The DSF250 supports 24 VC groups, of both high order (STS/VC paths) and low order (VT/VC paths) VC. It accomplishes standardized Ethernet and packet mapping (GFP/X.86/HDLC) with Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme (LCAS) support. It has up to 250ms of differential delay compensation, as well as redundant SONET/SDH Line interfaces.

The MSF15 is a highly integrated multi-service framer device capable of mapping DS1/E1, DS3/E3, Ethernet and packet traffic into protected OC-3/STM-1 SONET/SDH Lines. Used in customer-located equipment, the MSF15 is geared towards the Optical Edge Device (OED) products that address the multi-service SONET/SDH network access applications.

The MSF15 framer is equipped with multiple service interfaces, such as 10/100 Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, SPI-3, DS1/E1 and DS3/E3. Ethernet over SONET/SDH is supported through VC with LCAS, with simultaneous use of high order and low order VCs.

The DSF250 and MSF15 are sampling in Q3 2003. With all products, Galazar offers full customer support, including evaluation platforms, software drivers and a software support program.
