Furukawa Electric selects Cavium's Nitrox II security macro processor to deliver a high-speed VPN system

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Cavium Networks announced today that The Furukawa Electric Co. Ltd. is using the NITROX II Security Macro Processor to deliver the world's fastest performing VPN system to date. The FITELnet-F8000 IPsec Router has realized the highest IPsec performance of 2 Gbps for minimum sized packets while supporting 3,000 tunnels. Furthermore, FITELnet-F8000 offers advanced and flexible features for the communication carrier including IPv6 and virtual-router functions. These FITELnet-F8000 features enable carriers to respond to emerging customer requirements while improving the efficiency of the service. Currently, this product is available to customers in the Japanese market only.

Furukawa selected Cavium Networks NITROX II security processor for its fastest performance in the security processor market. Additionally, it was very easy to integrate the NITROX II security processor into Furukawa's architecture to enable their aggressive time-to-market needs. This allowed Furukawa to deliver on the stringent requirements of Japanese service provider customers.

Cavium Networks NITROX II Security Macro Processor Family offers the industry's widest family of in-line security processors for IPsec, SSL, Wireless LAN (CCMP, TKIP, WEP) and multi-protocol security. It supports inline and look-aside processing with SPI 3, SPI 4.2 and PCI-X interfaces for performance ranging from 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps. Both IPv4 and IPv6 are supported to enable customers to handle requirements of mixed IPv4 and IPv6 networks. The family comes with extensive software support including drivers for a range of operating systems and protocol stacks. NITROX II security processors are available in production quantities and are being used by OEMs in a wide range of networking equipment including VPN gateways, Edge Routers, Servers, Broadband aggregation systems and Storage HBAs.
