UTICA, N.Y. –– NetTest, a global provider of operational support systems for advanced and converged networks, today announced the availability of its “Pocket CMA” handheld test equipment line. Designed with the needs of the FTTx market in mind, the Pocket CMA line provides high performance testing at a low cost. The new line configurations consist of Power Meters, Light Sources and Loss Test Sets, all of which are light-weight, yet rugged in design to handle any testing situation.

Designed for attenuation and throughput measurements of fiber optic links, the Pocket CMA Power Meters are ideal for troubleshooting networks up to the demarcation point and ONT/ONU in FTTx networks, or CWDM equipment. The power meters include large mass storage capacity, pass or fail indicators for in-field compliance and an RJ45 interface option for network testing. An exclusive auto-wavelength switching modes allows the power meters to synchronize with the Pocket CMA Light Source series. File transfer via USB port and storage of up to 1500 data measurement readings further enhance the value of the Pocket CMA.

The Pocket CMA Light Sources provide stable output for point-to-point attenuation measurements or modulated tones for easy fiber identification. A variety of wavelength combinations and connector options can meet any testing needs from FTTx networks to long haul telephony links to multi-mode LAN and CATV. All Pocket CMA Light Sources feature an auto-wavelength switching mode that automatically allows characterization of a link at multiple wavelengths at the touch of a single button.

The Pocket CMA Loss Test Sets are offered with common calibration wavelength and connector options. With options including EZTest bi-directional testing, pass or fail threshold analysis, large capacity for test results storage and RJ45 interface network testing, the Lost Test Sets ensure that measurements are simple and error free and can be completed by a single operator.

“NetTest’s introduction of the Pocket CMA handheld line further emphasizes our commitment to meet the changing needs of our customers,” said Lars Pedersen, Deputy CEO, NetTest.
