PARIS -- Netcentrex, the leading enabler of converged voice-video-data networks and next-generation services, and Tiscali GmbH, a subsidiary of Tiscali S.p.A., one of the main independent European telecommunication companies, announced today that Tiscali has chosen Netcentrex IMS-based solutions for the roll-out of unbundled telephony services in Germany.

In Germany, Tiscali has been offering 2nd line VoIP services since December 2004 based on an Open Source architecture. The company is now deploying its own DSL infrastructure in order to deploy unbundled, IMS-compliant, primary line voice services based on Netcentrex solutions. Co-locations have been installed in the Frankfurt region where the new SIP-based voice services roll-out started in March 2006 in the first stage of a nationwide deployment plan.

It is projected that the German DSL market will grow from 10,6 million connections end of 2005 to 20,7 million connections in 2008. Tiscali is one of the first Internet service providers to take advantage of the full line unbundling in Germany with the deployment of its DSL network and to introduce an alternative primary line offering.

"The launch of professional VoIP services is seen as a step ahead in our large DSL network development of an unbundled network," states Stefan Brock, CTO of Tiscali Germany. "We expect that the reliability and scalability of Netcentrex solutions will allow us to expand our services seamlessly in line with demand while giving us flexibility in the service bundles that we offer. Initial deployments will target residential users with family packages of voice and internet services."
