MADRID -- ONO, a leading Spanish media and entertainment broadband operator, and Huawei, a leading provider of next generation telecommunications networks for operators around the world, have today signed a contract for the upgrade of the operator’s voice network.

ONO has decided to dedicate part of its investments to the substitution of equipment that sustains voice communication services. The technology solution provided by Huawei allows for the modernisation and optimisation of equipment, as well as a reduction in operation costs, as it requires lower energy consumptions and so is more environmentally responsible.

The seven year renewable agreement will allow ONO to focus its efforts on the needs of its customers and development of new services. This integrated solution model, which includes both the provision of equipment and the managed services for the voice network, streamlines the process of incidents detection and resolution, due to the involvement of the equipment supplier in the operation.

"ONO is a company that is committed to providing the best customer experience and, for that purpose, it is necessary to constantly invest in improvements, not only in services, but also in equipment and technology”, said Paul Kearny, Network and Technology director of ONO. “Huawei is the most appropriate company to fulfil the objectives that we have established in the management, enhancement and renovation of these services to upgrade our voice core network for the benefit of our customers”.
