SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) and Siemens Information and Communication Networks (ICN) today announced that Telecom Italia has awarded Siemens an order to install and integrate Juniper Networks solutions into its broadband network. Telecom Italia will deploy Juniper Networks E-series BRAS solutions for the delivery of innovative interactive services over its broadband infrastructure.

"Thanks to the solid partnership with Juniper Networks and Siemens' integration skills we can offer Telecom Italia advanced solutions that offer a high level of reliability to benefit both its business and residential customers," commented Mario Enrique Guidi, head of the Carrier Networks division of Siemens in Italy.

"We're pleased to announce Telecom Italia as a Juniper Networks customer. The Juniper Networks technology will enable Telecom Italia to plan ahead in terms of scaling the network and the deployment of revenue generating services," said Eugenio Libraro, country manager Juniper Networks Italy.

The E-series platforms will enable Telecom Italia to scale its broadband infrastructure for future growth and to increase its broadband access market penetration with both business and residential customers. Telecom Italia has also started the integration process of the T- series routers in its backbone network. M-series routing platforms are already being used for Telecom Italia's internal network. The M- and T-series routing platforms at the edge and core of the Telecom Italia IP infrastructure are being deployed to support connectivity for Telecom Italia's corporate customers.
