OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- With the fourth-busiest Web site on the Internet and a booming online entertainment business, network stability, innovation and capacity are essential to Electronic Arts. (NASDAQ: ERTS). Sprint (NYSE: FON, PCS) today announced that it has been selected by EA as its primary global Internet, data and voice transport provider. The agreement helps ensure that EA’s network and communications needs will match its high-speed growth and online expansion. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“A highly reliable, powerful, global communications network is essential to communicating with our customers and internally amongst our global offices,” said Marc West, chief information officer at Electronic Arts. “Our new agreement with Sprint gives us a primary provider with the technical capabilities, customer service orientation and business acumen EA looks for in companies with whom we do business.”

The agreement makes Sprint the primary global provider for all of EA’s transport and conferencing needs. The portfolio includes domestic Internet Protocol (IP) services, managed IP, global SprintLink™ managed IP, dedicated and switched voice, and audio conferencing. The CPE for this solution is made by Cisco and sold along with Sprint’s solution as part of the strategic relationship between the companies.

“Our ability to provide a suite of services to handle EA’s global data and voice needs, as well as our commitment to outstanding service, helped us win EA’s support and its business,” said Tim Kelly, president of Sprint Business. “This agreement links two companies known for innovation and for their ability to connect people to the global communities in which they participate. We are very excited about implementing our network on behalf of EA and helping them continue to redefine interactive entertainment.”
