SafeNet Secures NEC

BALTIMORE -- SafeNet (Nasdaq: SFNT), a leading global provider of Internet security technology that is the de facto standard in the VPN industry, today announced that NEC Corporation has selected SafeNet's SafeXcel-1741 VPN chip to secure "Fiber to the Home" (FTTH) Connections. NEC is deploying the chip in its IX2010 access router for corporate networks. NEC chose the SafeXcel-1741 based on price versus performance and support of key features necessary to implement security in its IX2010 router, used for FTTH connections. In Japan, Internet Service Providers have been installing fiber optic cables to the home versus broadband connections. The IX2010 router, which supports FTTH connections, allows speeds up to 100 Mbps.
