SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Photon announces its new automated RailScan system for high-precision measurement of laser beam width and divergence. The system allows the user to choose a 100, 200, or 500 mm rail with a stepper-controlled motion, and any of Photon’s BeamScan scan heads, which can be positioned parallel or perpendicular to the rail. With Photon’s RailScan Analysis Software, the user can select any desired scan head position with increments as low as 8 µm, acquire beam characteristic and view the real-time results. Data can also be analyzed using the ActiveX software standard through Microsoft Excel® or Labview®.With the BeamScan head oriented perpendicular to the rail's length, it can also aid in parallel beam orientation and position measurements. RailScan measures the following parameters of a paraxial laser source at any point along the rail's length:Beam width - orthogonal values
Divergence - orthogonal values
Mapping of beam waist
Ellipticity
Gaussian fit
