NexTone Wins KPN Deal

GAITHERSBURG, Md. -- NexTone(TM) Communications, the market leader in scalable session management of real-time IP services such as voice over IP (VoIP), today announced that KPN (NYSE:KPN - News) -- the largest telecommunications company in the Netherlands -- has deployed NexTone's Multiprotocol Session Controller (MSC) to more efficiently route and manage VoIP traffic for its growing domestic and international wholesale business.

Because KPN's transport service serves more than 230 destinations from its International Network Center and regional points of presence in Europe, New York, Miami, and Asia, KPN required a carrier class session controller capable of streamlining their existing VoIP interconnects while maintaining their operational integrity. KPN will utilize NexTone's MSC to quickly and seamlessly interconnect with VoIP carriers worldwide via secure VoIP connections. In addition, utilizing the NexTone MSC, KPN will now have easy access to the growing community of international VoIP carriers in the U.S. and around the globe including South America, Africa, and Asia that already use the NexTone MSC.

NexTone's MSC, with its unique FlexPeer capabilities, enables the normalization of VoIP traffic while also securing network interconnects. With the addition of NexTone's MSC in their network, KPN is able to securely interconnect with either TDM or VoIP based carriers and offer them the flexibility to support any protocol interconnection worldwide. NexTone's MSC takes the mystery and complexity out of VoIP interconnects and enables new routes and customers to be added to any network in a matter of minutes.
