Lucent Names Services President

John Meyer, most recently president of IT management services for EDS, named president of Lucent's Worldwide Services Group

MURRAY HILL, N.J. -- Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) today announced that John Meyer, most recently president of Information Technology Management Services for Electronic Data Systems (EDS), will join the company as president of Lucent Worldwide Services, effective April 1. Meyer, 46, will drive Lucent's initiative to become the industry leader in providing the broadest portfolio of deployment and professional services to support the world's largest service providers. This represents a $44 billion addressable market and one of the key growth areas in the telecommunications sector. "Lucent is increasing its focus on its services business, and John's success and years of experience in leading a large professional services organization will help Lucent leverage and expand its already considerable pool of talent and expertise in this area," said Pat Russo, Lucent chairman and CEO. "John has a deep understanding of this business, its complexities and its opportunities as well as extensive global experience. I am looking for him to guide this team so that we become a clear leader in deploying, managing and supporting global multi-vendor service provider networks." Prior to joining Lucent, Meyer was an executive with EDS, one of the world's leading outsourcing and technology consulting firms, for nearly 20 years and was president of its division serving Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
