Cisco's CTO Train

5:15 PM -- No idea if this is all that useful, but in researching Padmasree Warrior's hiring, I wanted to double-check that she's just the fourth person to be chief technology officer at Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO).

Here's the timeline I came up with. Scream at me via the message boards if it's wrong.

Table 1: CTO Timeline
CTO Reign After Being CTO...
Ed Kozel 1990-1998 Returned to Cisco in 2000. Now CEO of Skyrider.
(See Ed Kozel Is Back at Cisco.)
Judy Estrin 1998-2000 Founded Packet Design Inc.
(See Estrin Launches "Perpetual Startup".)
Charles Giancarlo 2004-2005 Promoted to Chief Development Officer, a title he still holds.
(See Cisco's Reorg: What It Means and Cisco Names Data Chief.)
Padmasree Warrior 2007-? We'll see.

re: Cisco's CTO Train Mike Volpi had the title for about 10 minutes.

I don't recall the date(s).

re: Cisco's CTO Train I don't recall Mike Volpi being CTO but he was Chief Strategy Officer for a bit. But Craig, your timeline for CTO is dead-on.

re: Cisco's CTO Train Yeah, you're right. He assumed the duties for a bit but never actually wore the title.

My bad.
