Ceyba Adds Butters to Board

Lucent's former chief technology strategist and SVP of strategy, marketing, and business development joins Ceyba's board

OTTAWA -- Ceyba Inc., a provider of core optical networking solutions to carriers and service providers, today announced the appointment of Mr. Gerald Butters, a seasoned technology expert, to its Board of Directors. As an industry leader, Butters is well known for his comprehensive customer service, support and fulfillment expertise, extensive technical skills and broad product knowledge. His range of customer experience will augment Ceyba's focus on developing solutions that help carriers realize substantial cost savings in their core network. Butters's guidance will enhance Ceyba's approach to addressing global customer relations and satisfaction, readying them for the imminent network expansion opportunities. Butters' impressive career exemplifies both his close working relationship with customers and his results-oriented drive. He spent many years with Nortel Networks in senior roles focused on customer service and marketing where he built market positions and sales programs necessary to grow revenues, engineered the turnaround of divisions and restructured organizations for increased customer satisfaction and fulfillment. As President of US Operations he was responsible for relationships with the current and emerging telecom carriers spanning all product lines. Subsequently, Butters joined AT&T as President of North American Operations for Network Systems where he was responsible for marketing, sales, and service to customers in the United States and Canada, as well as large private networks and OEM customers worldwide. With the spin-out of Lucent by AT&T, Butters took on several executive roles with Lucent, most recently as Senior Vice President of Strategy, Marketing and Business Development in addition to Chief Technology Strategist. Mr. Butters is currently a member of the Firstwave Intelligent Optical Systems Board and a founder of Shakti Ventures. He is also on the Advisory Board of Netrake and Attensity Corporation plus in venture capital advisory relationships with Telesoft Partners, Alliance Technology Ventures and Advanced Internet Ventures.
