LONDON -- Azure Solutions, the revenue-assurance company, and Giza Systems, a leading Egyptian systems integrator, today announced a major new deal with Telecom Egypt, Egypt's incumbent telecommunications operator, to provide revenue-assurance and fraud-management systems.

Telecom Egypt has a fixed-line subscriber base of ten million subscribers, which makes it the largest fixed-line provider in the Middle East and Africa. This is the first time Telecom Egypt has implemented a revenue-assurance and fraud-management solution, and it will enable it to reduce potential revenue leakage and maximise revenues across both its fixed-line and mobile services. The implementation will form part of an overall solution with an Agilent AcceSS7 system and ATIO test-call generators.

Azure's end-to-end revenue-assurance product portfolio for current-generation networks includes Data Integrity, Wholesale and Interconnect Billing, International Settlements, Fraud Management, Mediation Management, Translation and Rating, and Event Integrity

The implementation for Telecom Egypt, is the result of a strategic partnership agreement between Azure and Giza Systems, aimed at providing revenue-assurance solutions for fixed and mobile operators across Africa and the Middle East.

Roy Shelton, vice-president of sales and partner management at Azure Solutions, said: "This is a really significant win for Azure and Giza Systems and is great recognition of our revenue-assurance solutions. The increase of operators and services across Africa and the Middle East means that those operators who treat revenue assurance seriously are the ones likely to maximise revenues and achieve competitive advantage."

Mohamed Sedeek, Giza Systems' director of engineering in charge of the telecom sector, states: "This is a great endorsement of our expertise and know how and we hope our ongoing relationship with Azure will enable both of us to capitalise on further opportunities in the African and Middle-East telecoms market."

Eng. Dawlat Badawy, vice-chairman of project planning at Telecom Egypt, states: "We needed a revenue-assurance and fraud management system that was user-friendly and scalable across our network. The combination of Giza Systems integration expertise and Azure's heritage in revenue assurance and fraud management constituted a remarkable solution addressing the requirements of Telecom Egypt and understanding its objectives in the future. We will now be able to ensure that we are maximising our revenues and be able to offer an enhanced service to customers."
