ST. LOUIS, PALO ALTO, Calif., and SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Amdocs (NYSE: DOX), the leading provider of software and services to enable integrated customer management and the intentional customer experience, HP and Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: SUNW) today announced that they have successfully completed the industry's largest scalability test for telecommunications providers with Amdocs' systems. The rigorous test demonstrated the ability of Amdocs' software to scale up while maintaining industry leading service level agreements (SLAs). The test was conducted in a production like environment of 65 million subscribers using production code, generating 3.5 million database transactions per hour across the full Amdocs platform. Knowing that Amdocs' technology solutions are able to keep up with rapid subscriber base growth allows communications service providers (CSPs) to focus on building more profitable relationships with their customers.

"As the telecommunications industry continues to consolidate and the competition intensifies, it is critical that CSPs deploy flexible and scalable solutions to seamlessly support their new and expanded subscriber base, all while providing customers with an intentional and differentiated customer experience," said Harel Kodesh, chief products officer of Amdocs. "Today's results prove that Amdocs' solutions can provide the level of confidence that CSPs require to rapidly respond to changing market dynamics."

Amdocs Proven Scalability

The Amdocs software test included billing, CRM, ordering, and self-service and employed a robust and innovative testing methodology that emulated real-world usage of its platforms, using fully operational, customer-specific code of the software - something that tests performed with generic or lab-modified code cannot attest to. The Amdocs software tested supported as many as 72,000 concurrent online users operating Amdocs CRM (20,000), Ordering (14,000), Self Service (14,000) and Billing Customer Management (24,000) running in parallel with a total of 2 million subscribers in a single billing cycle.

The major partner in this significant benchmark was HP. In addition to its expertise in business support systems (BSS), HP provided servers and storage arrays that enabled the scalability of the Amdocs systems and backend databases. Specific products included HP Superdome servers, HP9000 rp8420 servers, HP BladeSystem servers, and HP StorageWorks XP12000 storage arrays. HP also contributed the use of the HP Solution Center in Houston, TX, where the benchmark was conducted. The test facility was managed by HP.

"For HP and Amdocs, this test is the latest milestone in a long and successful track record of providing carrier-grade billing platforms to service providers," said Marco Limena, vice president, network and service provider solutions, HP. "As the industry leaders in our respective markets, Amdocs and HP understand that BSS solutions must be highly scalable and adaptive. This test clearly demonstrates to mobile operators that we can deliver the technologies and support they need to grow the customer base -- and adapt quickly -- in a fast-moving market."

Sun Microsystems was the second major partner in this benchmark, enabling scalability via its high and mid range servers, including E6900s, V480s, and the Java Enterprise System to support front-end web applications such as CRM, Self Service and Order Management.

For these scalability tests, Amdocs also partnered with strategic, industry-leading software, hardware and applications providers, including Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO), BEA Systems (NASDAQ: BEAS), Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL) and Array Networks.

Based on more than 20 years of experience as a trusted business partner to the world's leading telecommunications companies, Amdocs' software is designed to scale - reliably and cost-effectively supporting a CSP's entire customer base regardless of size. Amdocs' software enables CSPs to accelerate their adoption of an integrated customer management strategy - breaking down silos and creating an agile and aligned organisation to place the customer at the centre of the business.

"The telecommunication industry is at a key inflection point precipitated by significant global consolidation, emerging technologies and rapidly increasing numbers of subscribers in emerging markets," said Darrell Jordan-Smith, vice president of global telecommunications, Sun Microsystems. "Sun Microsystems and Amdocs have joined forces to help companies meet the increasingly complex demands of their growing businesses."
