PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced measurement-customization software that enables engineers to customize Agilent Infiniium oscilloscopes and perform advanced on-site laboratory analysis of analog and mixed signals. Agilent's My Infiniium software enables R&D engineers in the computer, communications, defense and semiconductor industries to extract relationship data easily from analog and digital signals to enhance debugging capabilities, and simplify and speed the development of new digital products.

"Engineers have expressed a need to increase the efficiency of the design and development process through customization of their scopes," said Ron Nersesian, vice president and general manger of Agilent's Design Validation Division. "My Infiniium uses eGUI to bring customization capabilities to Infiniium oscilloscopes. The ability to add custom menu items enhances efficiency of the design process by eliminating the need for offline waveform analysis."

As the complexity of embedded systems increases, engineers often must view critical waveforms in formats unavailable in traditional oscilloscopes, making it necessary to transport the waveform data to an office PC for offline analysis using Microsoft(r) Excel or MathWorks' MATLAB(r). The Agilent My Infiniium measurement-customization software for Agilent's award-winning Infiniium mixed-signal oscilloscopes (MSOs) and digital storage oscilloscopes (DSOs) enables these applications to operate inside the Infiniium oscilloscope at the touch of a button, eliminating the need to transport waveform data.

For example, an engineer measuring the frequency response of a low-pass filter can use My Infiniium software to embed the Excel calculation of the filter gain and phase shift into an Infiniium oscilloscope. The frequency response can then be measured and analyzed within the oscilloscope, using waveform data from Channels 1 and 2.

Agilent My Infiniium software offers engineers two interface options to customize their oscilloscope. With the new extensible graphical user interface (eGUI) feature, menu items can be added to the Infiniium menu structure and linked to perform custom analysis. The new quick-execute feature allows engineers to customize the "QuickMeas+" key on the Infiniium's front panel to provide one-button access to custom measurements.

Agilent My Infiniium can run all Windows(r) XP-compatible programs. Users in various development environments such as Agilent VEE Pro, NI LabView and Microsoft Visual Studio(r) can take advantage of the industry-accepted IVI-COM driver for Infiniium oscilloscopes to achieve a higher level of performance, increase instrument interchangeability, and make it easier to use. This driver is available for download free of charge at www.agilent.com/find/adn.

Agilent My Infiniium software is compatible with all Agilent Infiniium 54830 Series and Infiniium 54850 Series oscilloscopes with an A.03.10 or higher version of the Microsoft Windows XP Pro-based operating system. Free software upgrades for Infiniium 54850 Series oscilloscopes are available at www.agilent.com/find/infiniium_software. All new Agilent Infiniium 54830 Series oscilloscopes are shipped with an A.03.10 or higher version of the Microsoft Windows XP Pro operating system and are able to run My Infiniium. Existing Agilent Infiniium 54830 Series oscilloscopes with an A.02.30 or earlier version of the Microsoft Windows(r) 98 system software can be upgraded to the new Windows XP Pro operating system with the Agilent N5383A Infiniium upgrade kit.
