MARTINSRIED/MUNICH, Germany and MAHWAH, N.J. -- ADVA Optical Networking (FSE: ADV), a leading global provider of optical networking solutions, today announced the opening of a new office in Vienna, Austria. The office will serve primarily as a base of operations for ADVA’s business development, sales, and service activities in Austria, southern and eastern Europe, and the Middle East.

ADVA has been active in these regions since its first products were deployed in 1995 and partners with firms like CNT/INRANGE Technologies and Siemens. A sizable customer base of carriers and large enterprises have implemented ADVA’s optical networking systems based on Coarse and Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM/DWDM) and Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) technology to address applications around storage, Ethernet, and wavelength services.

As many countries in southern and eastern Europe emerge from years of economic tumult, join the European Union, and begin to build country-wide infrastructure as a base for commerce and industry, technology plays a major role in linking companies to the global marketplace and enabling them to compete with western peers. Dark fiber has been extensively installed over the past decade in eastern and southeastern Europe, which carriers and enterprises are beginning to “light up” and more efficiently use through the implementation of optical networking technology. ADVA’s metro and regional optical networking solutions enable interconnectivity of multiple enterprise sites, achieving greater efficiency in the workplace and securely backing up mission-critical data to remote locations. Carriers can leverage an installed fiber network by expanding capacity and flexibility with ADVA’s solutions and generate new revenues by deploying managed services to enterprise end-user customers. ADVA’s low total cost of ownership approach minimizes the upfront CAPEX investment for carriers and enterprises and achieves low ongoing OPEX costs.

“The opening of our new office and establishment of a team based locally in Vienna further entrenches ADVA’s position as the dominant vendor of metro and regional optical networking solutions in Europe,” stated Jürgen Hansjosten, ADVA’s Chief Sales Officer. “This strategic investment into an office in Vienna enables us to better serve partners and customers and target growing opportunities in eastern Europe and the Middle East.”

ADVA Optical Networking’s new office is located at Lerchenfelder Gürtel 43, Top 2/2, 1160 Vienna, Austria.
