MINNEAPOLIS -- ADC (Nasdaq:ADCT, www.adc.com) today announced the appointment of Kevin Gilligan, John Rehfeld and William Spivey to its board of directors effective September 1, 2004. Each of the new appointees will stand for election at ADC's annual meeting currently planned for March 1, 2005. These new appointees increase the board to 14 members, which is a temporary increase in the total number of directors in order to facilitate a smooth transition in connection with the planned retirement of certain directors over the next two to three years.

"We are very pleased to add Kevin, John and Bill to our board and look forward to their contributions and counsel as we continue working to build ADC into a leading global network infrastructure company connecting wireline, cable, wireless, and enterprise communications," said Gus Blanchard, chairman of the board. "At a time when we were planning for transition with some of our long-time board members, we were very pleased to find three leaders with proven records of success in growing performance-driven technology companies, launching new products, creating and managing global operations and acquiring businesses."

Gilligan is a seasoned operating executive, most recently serving as the president and CEO of the automation and control solutions business at Honeywell International where he had a distinguished career spanning over 25 years. He is known for leading change and repositioning businesses for profitable growth combined with a strong track record in negotiating and integrating successful acquisitions. Gilligan graduated from Boston College with a bachelor of science degree in economics and political science.

Rehfeld is a visionary, marketing-driven CEO and outside board member with 30 years of technology experience, especially in international strategic relationships with the senior management of Asian companies, including Toshiba and Seiko. He holds a master of business administration from Harvard University.

Spivey is an accomplished and dedicated senior executive with 30 years of managerial experience in high-volume, high-technology businesses, including Luminent, Lucent Technologies, AT&T Corporation, Tektronix, Honeywell, and General Electric. He holds a Ph.D. in administration/management from Walden University, supplemented with master and bachelor degrees in physics, and is also experienced in acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and initial public offerings.

"I am confident that Kevin, John and Bill will complement the board of directors with valuable experience and knowledge," said Bob Switz, president and CEO of ADC. "As we build ADC into a leading global network infrastructure company, their strategic counsel will help us make wise decisions relative to the global expansion of our core business as well as our strategic growth initiatives."
