AMCC COO Quits

SAN DIEGO -- Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (Nasdaq: AMCC) today announced that Thomas Tullie has decided to leave the company. Tullie, who has been with AMCC since 1996, will resign his position as chief operating officer effective June 17, 2005. AMCC has no current plans to fill the role of COO.

"I believe this is the right time for me to move on," Tullie said. "Our recent acquisitions have been integrated and the restructuring announced in November is complete."

"I appreciate Tom remaining with AMCC after my arrival to help manage our operations while I became better acquainted with our company, our customers and our employees," said Kambiz Hooshmand, AMCC's president and chief executive officer. "Tom has been instrumental in managing the organization through a complex transition from a core transport company to a broad-based provider of networking solutions, and I thank him for his service."

Tullie joined AMCC in 1996 as vice president of sales. In January 2001, he assumed the role of senior vice president of sales and operations. In October 2003, Tullie was named general manager of the communications unit, while still leading the worldwide sales organization. He has served as COO since June 2004.

AMCC also announced the appointment of Daryn Lau as vice president and general manager, communications. Lau succeeds Joseph Vithayathil as general manager of the communications unit. Vithayathil is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities.
