Cogent, AGL Seal Dark Fiber Deal

ATLANTA -- AGL Networks, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of AGL Resources Inc. (NYSE: ATG), today announced it has signed a long-term lease agreement with Cogent Communications (AMEX: COI), a Tier One, next generation, optical Internet service provider. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The agreement will provide Cogent Communications with dark fiber connectivity to a multitude of commercial multi-tenant buildings in the Atlanta area using AGL Network's lateral construction capabilities. The deal includes long-term leasing of over 400 fiber miles of AGLN's dark fiber metropolitan network to meet Cogent's bandwidth demands in the Atlanta central business district and outlying areas. "As the largest dark fiber provider in the greater Atlanta area, with over 175 available route miles, we can cost-effectively provide carriers, Internet service providers, wireless providers and enterprises with the last mile connectivity they require," said Gordon Stark, senior vice president, sales and marketing for AGL Networks.
