OAKLAND, Calif. -- Zhone Technologies, Inc., the first company dedicated to developing a full spectrum of access products and solutions for the next-generation local loop infrastructure, today announced the availability of its new Raptor™ DSL Access Multiplexer. The Raptor Next-Generation DSLAM provides the highest density and lowest cost per port of any DSL platform on the market today. The Raptor is the only DSLAM that is software upgradeable to a fully functional Voice+Data NGDLC and provides in-service software-selectable ATM or IP uplinks. As part of Zhone's Single Line Multi-Service architecture, the Raptor dramatically lowers carrier's fixed and operational costs of service delivery over the existing local loop infrastructure while adding incremental revenue with new service creation. "Zhone has listened to carrier customers and has responded with a product breakthrough," said Unmesh Mehta, VP of Broadband Product Engineering for Zhone. "Zhone's Raptor establishes a new benchmark in DSL price per port and density that allows carriers to cost-effectively deploy DSL service in both the highest density and lowest density markets. Raptor expands Zhone's product portfolio and demonstrates Zhone's responsiveness to carrier needs in today's changing market." The Raptor makes the delivery of DSL services more attractive than ever to carriers regardless of line count. The Raptor is a versatile platform that is available in a range of environmentally hardened shelf sizes including 7U, 3U and 1U that can be deployed in the CO, in Remote Terminals or in buildings. Raptor supports a wide variety of line interfaces and uplinks from 10/100baseT to DS1 IMA and OC-12.Zhone Technologies Inc.
