Xtend Hires Technology VP

ATLANTA -- Xtend Networks™, a Vyyo® company (NASDAQ: VYYO) that provides advanced broadband solutions for the cable TV industry, today announced that veteran cable and telecommunications technologist Al Johnson has been named Vice President, Technology and Advanced Architectures.

Johnson, a former director of technology at Cablevision Systems Corporation (NYSE: CVC) and most recently senior vice president at Ipitek, Inc., will be responsible for driving customer prioritized technology decisions for Xtend’s in-band bandwidth expansion solutions, which are proven to double the usable downstream bandwidth and increase tenfold the upstream bandwidth of typical hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) network architectures.

Xtend Networks’ solutions are currently being trialed by cable operators in multiple markets. Xtend’s solution for the delivery of expanded, DOCSIS™-compatible, RF (radio frequency) bandwidth on the existing coaxial plant has led to its becoming an approved vendor of Cox Communications.
