Northport Wins IPTV Deal

Swedish urban network GothNet has selected Northport's Modulution middleware

LINKOPING, Sweden -- GothNet, the single largest urban network in Sweden, has decided toventure into the field of open TV-networks. To supply the middleware,GothNet has selected IPTV company Northport and its innovative platformModulution™.

“Urban networks have been working on the requirements for delivering openTV for a long time. The Modulution™ middleware from Northport and R&Dinstitute Acreo is the platform that makes it possible. At the same time, it givesus the unique position to offer a wide range of local and regional services ondifferent set-top boxes, all within the same environment”, says GothNet ABMarketing Director Hans Svensson.

Open TV-networks makes it possible for GothNet to cooperate with otherregional areas in western Sweden in a cooperation called “Västlänk”, whichcurrently has 19 urban network operators working together. This commitmentopens up a large number of services to many households. GothNet predicts itwill reach close to 250 000 customers in the region within three years.
