TEL AVIV -- Colombia’s Promigas Telecomunicaciones (“Promitel”) has deployed a fiber optic last mile solution from RAD Data Communications in its newly inaugurated metropolitan area networks (MANs) in Barranquilla and Cartagena.The RAD equipment selected by Promitel includes 20 LRS-24™ modem racks filled with dual FOMi-40™ and FOMi-E1/T1™ modem cards with V.35 and E1 interfaces at the nodes, and fully manageable, standalone FOMi-40 and FOMi-E1/T1 fiber optic modems at the remote sites. The RADview-HPOV/MDM™ UNIX-based network management system is used to configure, control and monitor the network. “The quality of the management, coupled with RAD’s vast experience and the flexibility and variety of its products proved to the deciding factors that led to Promitel’s choice,” stated Óscar García, General Manager of Cibercom, RAD’s distributor partner in Colombia.RAD Data Communications Ltd.
