MINNEAPOLIS -- ADC (Nasdaq:ADCT; www.adc.com), a leading global supplier of fiber optics, network equipment, software and integration services for broadband, multiservice networks, today announced that Cox Communications, Inc., has approved ADC's Cuda(TM) 12000 IP Access Switch as a DOCSIS 1.0 CMTS (cable modem termination system) solution. Cox will integrate ADC's Cuda 12000 platform in the company's Mid America region. ADC's Cuda 12000 IP Access Switch was obtained in the acquisition of Broadband Access Systems in September 2000. Cox will utilize this technology for its reliability characteristics and data aggregation capabilities.

"When deploying IP data services over our advanced broadband network, it is necessary to utilize reliable, scalable, standards-based solutions," said Chris Bowick, senior vice president of technology development for Cox Communications. "During our extensive lab evaluation, we found the Cuda 12000 platform to be a quality DOCSIS 1.0 solution deployable in today's market."
