SUWANEE, Ga. -- ARRIS (Nasdaq: ARRS) today announced that the ARRIS Touchstone TM501B E-MTA has been awarded Euro-DOCSIS 2.0 certification in tComLabs’ European Certification Wave 21. The TM501B becomes the first RoHS Compliant (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) E-MTA to achieve this industry certification. RoHS compliance indicates that the piece of equipment in question meets or exceeds the pending European Directive for the removal of lead and other heavy metals later this year.

The Touchstone TM501B E-MTA supports a single voice line along with a 10/100Bt Ethernet high speed data port. Also of market significance is that the Touchstone TM501B can be cost effectively deployed for High Speed Data-only service enabling up-sell to voice service without the necessity of a second truck roll.

“With this certification, our European customers have yet another option to meet their customers’ needs for combined voice and High Speed Data services,” noted Bruce McClelland, ARRIS Broadband VP & GM, CPE Products. “Equally important, this certification marks the introduction of ARRIS’ new Green (RoHS Compliant) family of EMTAs. This will provide operators with a more environmentally friendly, highly reliable, standards-based solution to deliver next generation telecommunications services to their customers.”
