DULUTH, Ga. -- ARRIS (NASDAQ: ARRS today announced that Altrio Communications, a full service company serving the metro Los Angeles area, has purchased the Cadantâ C4 cable modem termination system (CMTS) to offer its customers voice and tiered data services.

Altrio Communications was founded in mid-2000. It is a full service company offering voice, video and data services, as well as VOD, to its customers in the metro Los Angeles area.

ARRIS engineering and customer service worked closely with Altrio throughout the installation and transition of thousands of subscribers to the C4 CMTS. ARRIS also provided IP network design and consulting services in order to plan for Altrio’s transition from Layer 2 switched to Layer 3 routed access network. The overall Layer 3 network design will result in a significant reduction in network elements, increased operation efficiency and reduced total cost of ownership for Altrio.

“The Cadant C4 is working very well for us,” said Altrio Chief Technical Officer and Co-Founder Dave Large. “It’s very reliable and will enable us to move to tiered data offerings, usage-based pricing and commercial services with QOS requirements as our subscriber base grows. We also intend to use it in the future for VoIP service, when it makes sense to do so.”
