SaskTel selects JDSU's NetComplete to deliver VOIP service
November 15, 2005
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- JDSU (Nasdaq: JDSU; and TSX: JDU) announced today that its Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) test and performance management service assurance solution, called NetComplete, was selected by Saskatchewan Telecommunications (SaskTel) to help ensure reliability, efficiency and quality of service (QoS) for SaskTel's deployment of VoIP services. SaskTel is the leading full-service communications company in Saskatchewan, Canada offering complete wireline, wireless, internet and e-business solutions via a digital network. NetComplete is a triple-play service assurance solution that combines active testing and passive monitoring of VoIP equipment.
Launching its own VoIP offering over the next several months, SaskTel has chosen JDSU's NetComplete to improve service quality management processes by enabling them to obtain visibility of the end-customer voice experience throughout the entire lifecycle of a call. SaskTel will also be able to perform service-assurance functions, such as service monitoring, rapid fault isolation, and tier-two troubleshooting to effectively address the unique challenges of delivering carrier grade VoIP. NetComplete will help identify, isolate and overcome common QoS issues, such as poor call quality, dropped calls and slow dial-tone response.
"We are proud to support SaskTel's deployment of VoIP," said Roger Lingle, vice president of marketing for JDSU's Service Assurance Solutions business unit. "JDSU is confident that our NetComplete solution will significantly enhance SaskTel's ability to deliver high-quality VoIP service to its customers."
"We are excited to use JDSU's NetComplete service assurance solution -- with our pending deployment of VoIP, NetComplete will help ensure our network performs effectively without compromising any quality in the voice communications our more than 425,000 customers have grown to expect," said Robert Watson, SaskTel president and CEO.
