Premiere Global Services deploys Convedia's Media Servers as part of its VOIP conferencing and collaboration platform
May 24, 2005
STOCKHOLM -- Convedia Corporation today announced that Premiere Global Services, Inc. (NYSE: PGI), a global provider of business process solutions including audio and web-based conferencing services, has deployed Convedia's Media Servers as a critical and strategic element of its Voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VOIP) conferencing and collaboration platform. Convedia's CMS-6000 and CMS-1000 Media Servers will power a number of Premiere Global's services, including its integrated Web and audio solution, ReadyConferenceR Plus.
Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A., Premiere Global Services offers a rich suite of conferencing solutions to its global customer base with conferencing infrastructure in 12 countries throughout the world. Premiere Global provides services to thousands of companies worldwide, including a majority of the Fortune 500, and hosted nearly 2 billion conferencing minutes in 2004.
"The migration towards VoIP in conferencing is now a reality, with conference service providers and end customers having moved to VoIP over the past few years," said Elliot M. Gold, President of TeleSpan Publishing Corporation, which has followed the conferencing industry for 25 years. "We've seen tremendous growth in the past 12 months, with TeleSpan's data showing an increasing number of conference calls having more than one VoIP caller. Premiere Global is seeing this with its own customers. It's quite a 'stamp of approval' of Convedia's product, as in the past, Premiere has built their own voice bridges for their global network. Choosing Convedia puts a blue ribbon on the company."
Premiere Global's deployment of Convedia's products includes carrier-class CMS-6000 Media Servers for its core network operation centers, along with CMS-1000 Media Servers for its smaller markets and development labs. Convedia media servers support advanced audio/video bridging, mixing, recording and transcoding functionality exposed through standards-based SIP interfaces such as VoiceXML and MSML/MOML, allowing Premiere Global's development teams to quickly and easily integrate Convedia's industry leading media processing capabilities into its existing audio and Web conferencing services.
"Premiere Global has built a strong and loyal customer base by providing the latest in conferencing technology and market leading customer service and support," said Ted Schrafft, President, Premiere Global Services, Inc., Conferencing & Collaboration. "Our customers expect the absolute best in terms of quality, reliability and innovation from us, and we expect that of our suppliers. After an extensive and thorough evaluation, we are convinced that Convedia can satisfy our demands."
"Premiere Global is a great example of how conferencing service providers are driving cost out of their service platform while paving the way for new innovative multimedia communication services", said Peter Briscoe, president and CEO of Convedia. "We are very pleased to have been selected by Premiere Global and look forward to helping their product development team to innovate with new, differentiated collaboration capabilities that will help drive their future growth."
