Marconi and DeepNines to provide integrated attack mitigation, network intrusion, and traffic management for wireless market
January 7, 2003
DALLAS -- Marconi (MONI) and DeepNines Technologies announced today the signing of a worldwide reseller agreement. Under the terms of the exclusive agreement, Marconi's wireless business unit will market the Sleuth9 Security System(TM), DeepNines' network attack mitigation and intrusion prevention solution, to wireless service providers and infrastructure vendors. Marconi will leverage its strong market position in network planning software, Operational Support Systems (OSS) solutions and professional services to help secure wireless carrier networks with the DeepNines proactive security solution. "While the rollout of data services in today's wireless networks enables carriers to better serve subscribers and increase revenue, it also exposes the network, customers and their wireless data devices to attacks that can disrupt service, reduce data integrity, and threaten customer relationships," said Chip Wagner, executive vice president of Marconi's wireless business unit. "In addition, attacks on wireless networks will expose the service providers' internal systems and may negatively impact the ability to generate and collect revenue." The Sleuth9 Security System, from DeepNines Technologies, is a network attack mitigation and intrusion prevention solution that instantly detects and automatically prevents cyber attacks from entering or leaving a network. Sleuth9 provides customers with a new front line of defense that prevents DoS, DDoS, Port Scans, Trojan horses, propagating worms and viruses, as well as other cyber attacks from negatively impacting a network. The solution is located in front of the router and evaluates all network traffic at the packet level, both ingress and egress, to determine what is valid and what is malicious. Sleuth9 combines signature, protocol and traffic anomaly detection into an integrated solution and utilizes heuristics and proprietary behavior monitoring to block malicious traffic, while allowing good traffic to pass. "We have a proven technology to prevent attacks on network infrastructures. We are very excited to partner with Marconi, a recognized wireless leader to bring this solution to wireless service providers," said Sue Dark, chief executive officer of DeepNines, Inc. "Our Sleuth9 Security System is singularly capable of providing the advanced security functionality required to protect and secure wireless networks today." Marconi plc DeepNines Inc.
