Huawei collaborates with China Motion Telecom to develop an NGN providing cross-border multimedia services in Hong Kong and China

HONG KONG -- China Motion Telecom (CMT) and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (Huawei) today announced that they were collaborating to develop a Next Generation Network (NGN) to provide cross-border multi-media telecommunications services across networks to customers in Hong Kong and Mainland China with an initial investment of US$5million in phase 1 of its implementation.
CMT will use Huawei’s U-SYS NGN solution to set up a next generation multi-media integrated telecommunications service network spanning North America, Hong Kong and Mainland China. The network will adopt the advanced SIP telecommunications agreement to provide more than ten countries and regions with VoIP (voice over internet protocol), multi-media and cross-network telecommunications services. The network will also support advanced fixed line and wireless integrated business solutions tailored for the needs of 3G users with multi-media telecommunications services.
Dr. Li Bin, Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer, said, “As a multi-faceted telecommunications services provider, CMT owns strong telecommunications network businesses in Hong Kong, Mainland China and other key overseas markets including North America. Following extensive studies and information gathering, the Group has concluded that NGN technology is the new development trend of global communication services.”
