HYANNIS, Mass. -- Excel, a leading provider of carrier-class, open services platforms, media gateways, and media servers for communications networks, and Emergent Network Solutions, a leading provider of open solutions and services to carriers operating in the emerging network, today announced the successful deployment of a new Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) network for Economitel, an independent Dominican Republic carrier. Economitel provides VoIP long distance, wholesale, and prepaid services for residential and business customers throughout the country.
Siscom, a Dominican system integrator, collaborated with Emergent to develop and to provide an efficient and economical solution. Siscom's President Vadim Krol said, "Economitel needed to expand its service capabilities within the Dominican Republic and decided to migrate their network to IP. By combining the abilities of Emergent's ENTICE Open Solutions platform for routing, screening, and translations, with open, programmable platforms from Excel, we were able to quickly offer a completely integrated solution that provides converged media gateway and media server functionality with localized signaling capabilities."
"To remain competitive, providers must be able to adapt swiftly to changing conditions. This includes the migration to VoIP and adaptation of new innovative services," stated Nathan Franzmeier, President of Emergent Network Solutions. "Emergent provides the products, services, and expertise necessary to help organizations maximize their current and future networks and meet the demands of change."
"Our partnership with Emergent provides a powerful combination for customers around the world," said JC Murphy, president of Excel Switching Corporation. "With Excel, our partners can further expand their offerings with an enabling platform that supports existing circuit, as well as IP-based fixed and wireless networks. New revenue-generating services such as prepaid calling, conferencing, and voice messaging can be easily introduced, all on a single, integrated platform. As we look to expand our presence in Central and Latin American countries, we rely on partners like Emergent and Siscom to help localize applications so that their customers can offer truly unique, revenue-generating services.
