LONDON and OSLO -- Incatel, the provider of convergent network inventory solutions, announced today that Belgacom, the incumbent fixed-line operator in Belgium, has now gone live with Incatel's IP Address Management(IPAM) module. IPAM is now fully integrated with Belgacom's order management system for corporate IP services, to automate the allocation of IP addresses as part of the provisioning process. This milestone is the first stage of deployment of Incatel's convergent network inventory solution, NIMS, for Belgacom's data and broadband services.

Belgacom has identified that, with the rapid growth of business services like IP-VPNs, automating provisioning is essential to be able to provide services faster and more cost effectively. One key aspect of the provisioning process is the assignment according strict criteria of IP addresses from organised pools of addresses. Incatel's IPAM module provides a means to administrate efficiently the IP-address-space allocated by an Internet Registry, such as RIPE (Réseaux IP Européens).

Xavier Hanus, director - Network Support Systems, at Belgacom says: "Incatel's IPAM module provides a much more effective way of managing our IP addresses than the manual home-grown solutions we had until now. We have now integrated IPAM with our internal order-management system, using the module's SOAP based APIs. This allows us to allocate the right IP addresses directly at the point of order entry, providing considerable gains in efficiency."
