Sycamore Networks expands SILVX InSight suite of network planning and design tools

CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- Sycamore Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCMR), a leader in intelligent optical networking, today introduced a number of additions and enhancements to SILVX InSight(TM), the company's comprehensive network planning and design software family. The enhanced SILVX InSight family enables carriers to drive down capital and operating costs by identifying and quantifying new ways to leverage existing network assets and capacity. SILVX InSight has been expanded with:

  • New Silvx Circuit Spy Application -- Provides access to real-time network capacity utilization and service status through a secure web portal, allowing carriers to maximize the use of existing network assets by quickly identifying and tapping into idle capacity.

  • New InSight Design Services -- Unique professional services leverage the expertise of experienced network architects in combination with powerful SILVX software to provide customized, cost-optimized network designs and ensure that any network investment provides cost savings and efficiency gains.

  • Enhanced Silvx Transport Design Application -- Enhancements produce least-cost transport designs for long-haul and ultra long-haul routes, and reduce planning and deployment time by automating amplifier placement, wavelength planning, node configuration, and dispersion management.
