SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Today Northrop Grumman Interconnect Technologies announced that ithas joined the Unified 10Gbps Physical –layer Initiative (UXPi). Formed in Oct ’03 by fivesemiconductor industry leaders; Applied Micro Circuits Corp., International Business MachinesCorp., Infineon Technologies AG, Texas Instruments Inc., and Xilinx Inc, the charter of theUXPi is to “Simplify and accelerate the implementation of next generation 10Gbps systems bypromoting a common physical layer across multiple standards and markets”, thereby reducingthe costs and risks normally associated with developing next generation systems.

Interconnect Technologies has been an active member of the UXPi since Dec ’03. As aContributing member, Interconnect Technologies is a member of the Technical Committee, participating in several initiatives to reduce and standardize costs and simplify the design ofphysical layer 10Gbs channels.

“As we continue to invest heavily to develop intellectual property for signal integrity methodsto enable 10Gbps channels, the UXPi provides a forum for us to interface with other channelpartners to exchange ideas and refine our technology to meet the industry 10Gbps signalingobjectives. We are therefore delighted to be invited to join the UXPi, as we recognize theimportance of such an initiative to the industry and to our Customers” said Mike Oltmanns,Technical Marketing Manager of Northrop Grumman Interconnect Technologies.
