LONDON -- Nortel Networks(NYSE:NT)(TSE:NT.) has designed and built a terabit-capable opticalbackbone network for UK operator Kingston Communications, providing ahigh-capacity foundation capable of carrying Gigabit Ethernet andother local broadband services. This backbone, which has already begun carrying live traffic, isbased on Nortel Networks 10 gigabits-per-second DWDM (dense-wavelengthdivision multiplexing) optical solution, including Nortel NetworksOPTera Long Haul 1600 Optical Line System and OPTera Connect DXoptical switch.
