Lumentis introduces an extended CWDM solution for IP, SAN transport, and broadcast networks up to 120 km without amplification
April 19, 2004
STOCKHOLM -- Lumentis AB, a leading supplier of metropolitan and regional optical transport solutions, introduces a new extended version of Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) transport, as part of their portfolio to fully address customers need for lowest initial cost, minimal rack space and lowest cost per port also for longer distances.
Lumentis offers the extended CWDM solution for IP-, SAN- transport and broadcast networks up to 120 km without using any kind of amplification. Lumentis customers can initially use a CWDM solution without sacrificing scalability or reliability at a later stage. The patented optical architecture enables both low cost CWDM and high scalability DWDM technologies to use the same fiber pair and same management application, which makes the first initial CWDM deployment a true stepping stone for later Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) deployment without commissioning new fiber.
The 120km carrier class CWDM solution is available for immediate shipment in three different chassis; the 1-slot Mentis M101 (1U), the 3-card Mentis M301 (3U) and the 16-card Mentis M3000 system (10U).
