ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- LightPath Technologies Inc., (Nasdaq: LPTH) a leading value added supplier of passive optical components to the telecom market, announces the introduction of its Fused Fiber Polarization Maintaining Collimator product line for use in transmission, amplifier and modulator applications in fiber optic networks. Built on LightPath Technologies' highly reliable fiber fusion technology, the fused fiber polarization maintaining collimator has demonstrated superior performance. LightPath's patented fiber fusion technology produces a robust, monolithic silica collimator with an adhesive free optical path, allowing high power handling capability. Fused fiber polarization maintaining collimators consistently demonstrate extinction ratios of 26dB or higher and typical insertion loss of 0.2dB and lower. "We are excited to extend our collimator capabilities to include the fused fiber polarization maintaining collimator. LightPath's unique fusion technology, in addition to power handling, provides a distinct advantage in extinction ratio over collimators manufactured with an air gap design, giving them improved performance in fiber optic networks," stated Jeanne Edwards, Vice President of Product Management, LightPath Technologies Inc.LightPath Technologies Inc.
