Ixia announced the latest enhancements to its Optixia test platform, along with a statement of direction regarding ongoing innovations
April 18, 2006
CALABASAS, Calif. -- Ixia (Nasdaq:XXIA - News), a leading, global provider of IP performance test systems, announced today the latest enhancements to its Optixia® test platform, along with a statement of direction regarding ongoing innovations. Optixia is a family of chassis and network interface modules that delivers the highest performance and most flexibility in the industry. Optixia operates in conjunction with Aptixia(TM), Ixia's family of test applications. (See accompanying press release for April 18, 2006, "Ixia Announces Aptixia Family Of Test Applications.") Together, Optixia and Aptixia deliver a complete solution for executing integrated network and application testing in a single Layer 2-7 platform, enabling customers to leverage their investment across many users and use cases. The Optixia chassis line was first released 3 years ago with the ultra-high density XL10 model. The newest addition to the Optixia family is the Optixia X16. The X16 began shipping earlier this year, but is already realizing a rapid adoption rate by existing and new customers, including network equipment manufacturers, service providers, carriers, enterprises, and federal customers.
Support for two new modules was added to the Optixia X16 in March 2006:
1-port Multi-Services Module (MSM), supporting OC-192c Packet over SONET/SDH (POS) and 10 Gigabit Ethernet LAN/WAN
2-port Encryption Load Module (ELM), supporting Gigabit line-rate
IPSec encryption/decryption
The Optixia platforms support a set of key capabilities to increase the productivity of development, quality assurance, manufacturing, support, and marketing users:
Best forward/backward compatibility in the industry, allowing Ixia customers to migrate existing hardware, software, and automation to
Optixia without loss of investment
High port density with CPU and management per port of up to 240
Gigabit Ethernet ports or 54 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports in a single chassis (XL10 model)
Highest number of traffic streams and trackable flows in the industry, supporting over 98,000 transmit and 128,000 receive flows per Gigabit Ethernet port, and 1 million/2 million per 10 Gigabit Ethernet port
Fastest test set up and execution in the industry, leveraging a high-speed backplane and integrated test server to significantly reduce overall test times
True hot swap capability, providing seamless addition/removal of resources without disruption of testing, important for multi-user and globally distributed environments
Looking forward in 2006, further interface density increases in Optixia will become available to match the growing needs of customers for high scalability testing. To meet requirements for high performance Triple Play services testing -- including IPTV, VoIP, and web -- ongoing developments will continue to accelerate system Layer 4-7 content processing performance.
